Lots of info, must have for anyone before you decide to head towards the Rockies. Helpful for any mountains but for serious high altitude training this book is wealth of knowledge for backcountry and everything in betweenThis book had the flying I was looking for. The maneuvers, type of flying, and style are "bold" in comparison to a lot of other literature about flying. And strangely enough, it's presented with all the tips, tricks and techniques to help you fly as safe as possible. Some of the flying in this book may be a little advanced for the reader (Some was beyond my capability right now), but there is a wide range to which the reader can relate -- where the reader was in his flying during the early years, where he/she is right now in terms of ability, and what he/she may be capable of in the future. All presented in a format structured with safety and good flying practices (RULES OF THUMB - once you read, you'll get it) keep you on the safe side of this unforgiving environment. Some reading is repetitive, but there's a reason - the important rules of thumb will be burned into your subconscious. Some of it probably more technical than you desire at times. But all in all, a great read you will find yourself picking up before you go out flying to try some techniques, or sitting at your computer figuring out the hows and whys of the mountains, and which place you'll want to fly next.-JThe book shipped right away and was exactly what I expected. The only drawback is that it even though the book is new, it seems like this copy has been sitting around for a while and the sticky backing on the labels on the front and back covers will not come off the book. This is a must read.Without a doubt the best aviation book I have read and I've read a lot of them. This book is extremely detailed and yet is very easy to read and follow. A true wealth of information in one package.I wish I would've bought and read this book a long time ago!As a CFI and a professional physicist, even I found a new tidbit or two worthy of purchase. Well organized well written doesn’t cure insomnia. Definitely one of three books I recommend to all my students.Extensive book is a great resource for mountain flying technique and concerns. The author is often repetitive, particularly if you're reading the book from beginning to end, but this is useful if you're only reading particular sections. And what he repeats are principles that should become a part of your psyche as a mountain flying pilot.I recommend this book highly.Contains lots of good info for any flight operations and is organized in a way that you can refer back to important points as needed.Nothing short of great. I like his "rules of thumb" and his explanation of the importance of density altitude in flight planning was particularly helpful to me as someone coming from the East!
